Sigenergy Installers

MCS certified Sigenergy installers in the south of England
Sigenergy SigenStor battery and solar systems, designed and fitted by our own teams

We design, install and look after Sigenergy SigenStor home batteries, hybrid inverters, Sigen Gateways and EV chargers across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire.

Sigenergy has gone from newcomer to one of the most searched home battery brands in the UK in a very short time. The reason is the SigenStor: a modular system that puts the solar inverter, battery, energy management and an optional DC EV charger into one stack. It is a clever piece of kit, but it only performs as well as the design and installation behind it. That is where we come in.

DES Renewable Energy is an MCS certified installer based in Wimborne, Dorset. We fit Sigenergy alongside the other leading brands we install, so the advice you get is honest: if SigenStor is the right fit for your home we will say so, and if something else suits you better we will explain why.

What we install from the Sigenergy range

SigenStor Energy Controller

The Energy Controller is the hybrid inverter at the top of the stack. It runs your solar panels, charges and discharges the battery and manages import and export. Single phase and three phase versions are available, which makes SigenStor a strong option for larger homes and properties on a three phase supply. Single phase controllers have two solar inputs (MPPTs), and selected three phase models have up to four, which helps on east and west roofs or split arrays.

Sigen Battery modules

Sigen batteries use lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells and stack beneath the controller. The two core modules have usable capacities of 5.2 kWh and 7.8 kWh, and each controller takes between one and six modules. Each battery has its own DC optimiser, which is designed to let you add newer modules to an older stack later on. The batteries are IP66 rated and specified to run from minus 20 to 55 degrees C, so outdoor installation is possible within Sigenergy’s rules.

Sigen Gateway for backup

If you want the house to stay powered in a power cut, the Sigen Gateway is the piece that makes it happen. The HomePro SP-F is the single phase gateway built for whole-home backup, and Sigenergy specifies 0 ms load-side disruption when it is paired with a Sigen Energy Controller and battery. We size backup around what you actually need to run, because the inverter and battery still set the limit. Read our Sigenergy Gateway guide for the detail.

Sigen EV chargers

Sigenergy offers a 7 kW AC charger controlled through the mySigen app, and a DC charging module that connects straight to the SigenStor DC bus. The DC module is rated at 12.5 kW or 25 kW and is designed for bidirectional use. Vehicle to home depends on the car and on software and standards support, so we treat it as a future feature rather than a reason to buy. See our Sigenergy EV charger guide.

mySigen app

Every system we commission is set up in the mySigen app before we leave, with live solar, battery, home and grid flows. Sigen AI Mode can plan charging and discharging around your tariff, weather and solar forecast, which is useful on smart and time of use tariffs.

Sigenergy or GoodWe? Our honest view

GoodWe ESA is the system we fit most often, and SigenStor is the one people increasingly ask us about. Both are modular, both sit in one tidy tower, and both can back up the home in a power cut. Here is the short version.

Who SigenStor suits best

  • Homes that want to start with a smaller battery and add modules later
  • Properties with a three phase supply or a complicated roof
  • Households on a smart or dynamic tariff who want the system to plan itself
  • Anyone who wants proper backup in a power cut
  • Families with an EV now, or planning one alongside a heat pump

If you have a simple single phase home and want around 13.5 kWh in one box, a Tesla Powerwall 3 or a GoodWe ESA stack may suit you just as well. We fit all three, so we will show you the options side by side.

How a Sigenergy installation works with DES

1. Free survey and designWe look at your roof, your consumer unit, your usage and your tariff, then size the controller, battery and backup to suit.
2. Clear written quoteA fixed written quote covering every component, the gateway if you want backup, and any electrical upgrades.
3. Installation by our own teamOur employed electricians and installers fit and test the system. No subcontracted crews.
4. Commissioning and handoverWe set up mySigen, register your warranty, handle the DNO notification and issue your MCS certificate.

Sigenergy guides

Sigenergy questions we get asked

Do you install Sigenergy in Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire?

Yes. We are based in Wimborne and cover Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire, with work further afield in Devon, Somerset, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Berkshire. Every installation is carried out by our own employed team.

Can you add a Sigenergy battery to my existing solar panels?

Often, yes. Because the Energy Controller is a hybrid inverter, it can replace an ageing solar inverter and run your existing panels and a new battery together. We check your array and wiring at survey before recommending this.

What warranty comes with Sigenergy?

Sigenergy gives the battery and Energy Controller a 10 year product warranty in Europe, with a performance guarantee of 70 percent usable energy or a minimum throughput, whichever comes first. The DC EV module has a shorter warranty. We register your warranty at handover, and you also get our workmanship warranty and an IWA insurance-backed guarantee.

How much does a Sigenergy battery cost?

It depends on the number of modules, the controller size, whether you want backup, and whether solar is going in at the same time. We do not publish prices because every home is different, but our Sigenergy cost guide explains what drives the price, and a free survey gives you a fixed written quote.

Does Sigenergy work with Octopus and other smart tariffs?

Yes. The mySigen app supports time of use and dynamic tariffs, and Sigen AI Mode plans charging and discharging around prices, weather and your usage. We set it up for your tariff at handover.

Do you service and repair Sigenergy systems?

Yes. We support the Sigenergy systems we install, and can look at systems fitted by other companies. Call us on 01202 985 888 if yours has a fault.
