At DES Renewable Energy we think going renewable should come down to good advice, proper workmanship and the right system for your home, not high-pressure sales.
We’re an established electrical contractor. Our electricians have been fitting solar PV and battery storage for almost ten years. After years of installing for other solar companies, most of them sales-led, our Managing Director, Jason, set up DES Renewable Energy so we could look after the whole job ourselves, from the first bit of advice through to installation and aftercare.
As electricians, we get asked about heat pumps a lot. The electrical side matters, but a good heat pump installation also needs specialist plumbing, heating and F-Gas knowledge. Rather than trying to do everything ourselves, we work with specialist heat pump partners who work the same way we do and hold the same standards.
What your first estimate includes
- A high-end Vaillant heat pump
- An allowance for upgrading radiators where needed
- An allowance for a new hot water cylinder
- A full survey and system assessment before anything is agreed
- A cautious starting figure, so there are no surprises later

Your first quote is a sensible starting point
For your initial quote, we’ll work with our partners to give you a realistic estimate based on the information we have at that stage.
That quote includes a high-end Vaillant heat pump, plus allowances for upgrading radiators and fitting a new hot water cylinder. We price it this way deliberately. It gives you a cautious starting figure, so you don’t get caught out later by costs nobody mentioned.
If you’d like to go ahead, our partners will carry out a full survey and system assessment first. That’s how their engineers work out what your home actually needs. Depending on what they find, they might suggest a different heat pump, keep some of your existing radiators or your current cylinder, or find other ways to get more out of the system.
So the final system, and the final price, could well come in lower than the first estimate.

Between us you get one joined-up job, with each part of the work done by the people who do it day in, day out.
Common questions
Will I need new radiators?
Maybe, maybe not. Heat pumps run at a lower temperature than a gas boiler, so some homes need a few larger radiators. The first estimate includes an allowance for this. The survey tells us which, if any, actually need changing.
Is the first estimate the final price?
No. It’s a cautious starting figure based on the information you give us. After the survey, the final system and price are confirmed, and they can come in lower than the estimate.
Who does the work?
DES looks after the electrical side and the whole project from first contact to aftercare. Our specialist heat pump partners carry out the survey, the heating and plumbing work, and the F-Gas work. One job, the right people on each part.
