Sigenergy has gone from unknown to one of the most searched battery brands in the UK in a very short time, and the question we hear most is simple: is it actually any good? We design and install Sigenergy systems, alongside other leading brands, for homes and businesses across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire. Here is our honest view, including what owners are saying in public reviews.
The short answer
The hardware is genuinely impressive: modular, well designed, and one of the most complete all-in-one systems on the market. The weaker point is the company’s own after-sales support, which public owner reviews rate poorly. That makes your choice of installer more important with Sigenergy than with most brands, because a good installer is your first line of support.
What Sigenergy does well
A genuinely all-in-one design
SigenStor stacks a hybrid solar inverter, battery modules, energy management and an optional DC EV charging module into one tower. For a household that wants solar, storage, backup and EV charging, that means one system and one app rather than three brands that do not talk to each other.
Modular and expandable
Batteries come in 5.2 kWh and 7.8 kWh usable modules, with one to six per controller. Each module has its own DC optimiser, so newer modules can be added to an older stack. Being able to start with what you need and grow later is one of the strongest reasons to choose it. Our SigenStor battery guide covers sizes and specs.
Single and three phase
Three phase homes and small commercial sites often have fewer good options. Sigenergy covers both, which is one reason we have used it on commercial projects.
Smart control
The mySigen app and Sigen AI Mode can plan charging and discharging around the weather and dynamic tariffs, including Octopus pricing in the UK. It is most useful on a time of use or dynamic tariff. Our mySigen app guide explains the modes.
Industry recognition
SigenStor was named a finalist in the Energy Storage category of The smarter E AWARD 2024, one of the main industry awards at Intersolar Europe. It did not win that year, but reaching the final as a new brand is a fair sign that the engineering is taken seriously.
What owners are saying
We only quote real, public reviews. At the time of writing (October 2026), Sigenergy’s UK Trustpilot page shows a TrustScore of 2.7 out of 5 from 97 reviews. Reading through them, the complaints are mostly not about the batteries failing to work. The recurring themes are:
- slow responses from Sigenergy’s own support team
- warranty claims taking weeks to resolve
- occasional app and monitoring connection problems
There are also positive reviews from owners whose systems have run without trouble. Trustpilot reviews skew towards people with a problem, and 97 reviews is a small sample for a brand with this many installations. Even so, the pattern is clear enough to take seriously, and we would rather tell you than have you find it after the install.
Why the installer matters so much
With any battery, your installer is the first call when something goes wrong. With Sigenergy, given those reviews, it matters even more. A good installer:
- commissions the system properly, which prevents most of the “odd behaviour” issues people report
- can diagnose remotely and sort settings without you waiting on the manufacturer
- handles any warranty claim with Sigenergy on your behalf and chases it
- is still around in five and ten years
That last point is the big one. A lot of reviews across every battery brand come from owners whose original installer has gone out of business. We install with our own employed teams, we are MCS, NAPIT and RECC certified, and every installation carries an IWA insurance-backed guarantee as well as the manufacturer warranty.
Our experience installing Sigenergy
We have used Sigenergy where it is the best fit rather than as a default. Examples include a 45 kWh commercial battery system at Moor Crichel with a Sigenergy inverter, a 25 kWp solar and battery system with a three phase Sigenergy inverter and a 65.5 kWp commercial solar and Sigenergy battery project. The equipment has been well built and straightforward to commission.
Who should choose Sigenergy, and who should not
A strong choice if you:
- want solar, battery, backup and EV charging in one system
- expect your electricity use to grow with an EV or heat pump
- have a three phase supply or a complicated roof
- are on, or planning, a smart or dynamic tariff
Probably not the best fit if you:
- just want a standard sized battery added to solar that already works well
- value a long brand track record above everything else
- are on a flat tariff with no EV and no plans to change
In those cases a GoodWe system or another brand may suit you as well or better. We compare the options in Sigenergy vs GoodWe and Sigenergy vs GivEnergy, Fox ESS and Sunsynk.
Sigenergy review FAQs
Is Sigenergy a reliable brand?
The hardware is well regarded and the batteries use lithium iron phosphate cells, the most stable mainstream chemistry. The company was only founded in 2022, so long-term UK field data is limited, and public reviews of its support are mixed.
What warranty does Sigenergy give?
Sigenergy gives a 10 year product warranty on the battery and Energy Controller in Europe, with a battery performance guarantee. We add our own workmanship warranty and an IWA insurance-backed guarantee.
Why is Sigenergy’s Trustpilot score low?
Most negative reviews are about slow manufacturer support and warranty handling rather than the hardware itself. Choosing an established installer who handles support for you avoids most of that.
Is Sigenergy better than Tesla Powerwall 3?
It depends on the home. We cover it in detail in Sigenergy vs Tesla Powerwall 3.
