What we did
We assessed the unit's energy use, roof space and sun exposure, then designed a 26 panel system using a structural engineer's report, shading analysis and the existing electrical layout. As an MCS certified installer and NAPIT accredited electrical contractor, we handled the DNO approval and compliance, installed the panels, connected them to a central inverter and completed testing, commissioning and monitoring set-up. Fern and Birch used government tax incentives on the investment to shorten the payback period.
It shows that commercial solar is not only for large factories. A small business unit with a decent roof can cut its running costs and carbon in a single month's project.
