A complex installation spread over three buildings on the same property, each with its own system designed for what that building needs.
The goal
The property has three separate buildings, each with different roof space and different demands. Rather than force everything through one system, we designed three that each suit their building.
What we installed
- 30 x Jinko 430W solar panels (12.9 kWp in total)
- 1 x Solis 3.6kW hybrid inverter
- 1 x Solis 2kW mini inverter
- 1 x Solis 5kW hybrid inverter
- 1 x EPS (emergency power supply)
- 2 x 3.55kW Pylontech batteries
- 3 x 3kW Pylontech batteries
- GSE roof mounting system
Why we designed it this way
Matching each inverter to the array on its building keeps every system running efficiently, and the small 2kW mini inverter suits a building with only a modest amount of roof. Hybrid inverters on the larger buildings let those systems charge and draw on battery storage.
The GSE mounting system sits the panels into the roof line for a neat finish.
How it works day to day
Each building generates and uses its own solar, with the batteries storing surplus for later. The EPS keeps essential circuits running if the grid goes down.
Questions homeowners ask about a system like this
Can outbuildings have their own solar?
Yes. Garages, annexes and workshops can each have a system, or be wired into the main house, depending on how they are supplied.
