Magdalen House Care Home: 38.13 kWp Solar, Hadleigh

How can we help?

Magdalen House Care Home is a care home in Hadleigh, near Ipswich, part of Allegra Care. To reduce the running costs of the home and support its environmental goals, it partnered with DES Renewable Energy to install a rooftop solar PV system that generates clean electricity on site, lowers energy bills, and supports its long-term sustainability goals.

Project overview

Magdalen House Care Home commissioned DES Renewable Energy to install a 38.13 kWp solar PV system across its roof. The installation comprised 93 x 410 W Hyundai panels connected to a SolaX X3-PRO G2 30 kW inverter. The project aimed to reduce electricity costs, lower carbon emissions, and enhance long-term financial sustainability. It’s another example of our work on solar panels for care homes.

The solution: bespoke assessment and design

DES Renewable Energy conducted a comprehensive assessment of roof space, structural considerations, sun exposure and interlocking constraints to ensure optimal placement and system sizing. The system was designed with 93 x 410 W Hyundai panels across the roof, with power conversion handled by a SolaX X3-PRO G2 30 kW inverter, integrated with the home’s existing electrical infrastructure. We ensured full compliance with building regulations, electrical standards and industry best practice, obtaining all necessary permits and approvals.

Installation and completion

The installation was carried out with minimal disruption to the day-to-day running of the home. Panels were securely mounted, connected to the inverter, and integrated with the existing electrical system, before comprehensive testing and commissioning verified the system’s performance, functionality and safety. From initial assessment to completed commissioning, DES Renewable Energy provided a turnkey solution.
