Carvers Clubhouse is a community sports and recreation facility at Carvers Recreation Ground in Ringwood, run with Ringwood Town Council. To cut the running costs of a building used daily by local sports teams and community groups, the clubhouse worked with DES Renewables to install a 29.57 kWp rooftop solar PV system that generates clean electricity on site.

DES Renewables designed and installed a 29.57 kWp rooftop solar PV system at Carvers Clubhouse. Alongside the array, DES carried out the supporting electrical works, including a 10mm five-core SWA supply run with SWA glands and a weatherproof enclosure. Scaffolding was used to give safe access to the roof. The project ran over roughly two months, covering design, the DNO application, planning and commissioning, and the completed system was handed over on 27 March 2025.

The solution: bespoke assessment and design
Every DES project starts with an assessment of the building rather than an off-the-shelf system size. At Carvers, the roof was surveyed and the array sized at 29.57 kWp to suit the available roof area and the clubhouse’s day-to-day electrical demand.
DES also specified the supporting electrical infrastructure the system needed, including a 10mm five-core SWA supply run, SWA glands and a weatherproof enclosure, so that the new array integrated safely and neatly with the building’s existing installation. Because the clubhouse is run in partnership with Ringwood Town Council, the design and approvals stage was handled alongside both the council and the DNO application.
Installation and completion
Scaffolding was erected to give the installation team safe access to the clubhouse roof. The array was mounted and connected, and the supporting electrical works were completed and terminated into a weatherproof enclosure. Testing and commissioning followed, and the job was completed and formally handed over on 27 March 2025 — around two months from the start of design.
